Hi, I'm Rebecca, and I'd love to show you how your horse can be rehabilitated, perform better and be happier by following a barefoot lifestyle. There is SO much more to "going barefoot" than removing the shoes. A barefoot trim is specialized - it is NOT a pasture trim. There are also many methods and philosophies in barefoot trimming that don't always agree with each other. I will be happy to explain my philosophy, answer your questions, and point you towards an endless path of resources when we meet.
I am a passionate and perpetual student - I participate in many online communities, as well as keep up with the latest research. I also don't mind explaining what I am doing and answering questions. I am currently a student of Keith Seeley, whose work I admire and who has been a wonderful mentor to me since I've known him. From Keith, I have learned so much about how the horse and hooves are connected. There is no cookie-cutter approach that will work for all horses, thus each horse I work with receives his own personalized trim based on his needs at that time.
A perfectionist at heart, I promise to do my best to give your horse the most balanced, appropriate trim possible. I usually take photos (before and after) as educational tools. I am happy to share your horse's photos with you for your records.
Depending on the circumstances (size of horse, behavior of horse, whether a trim in rehabilitative or not), a trim can range from $40-$80. I recommend a 5-6 week trimming schedule for best results, except in severe cases, such as founder, where a 2-3 week schedule will result in faster recovery. Abrasive (grinder) trimming services are available upon request. Boot-fitting is also available.
No travel fees will be billed for distances up to 25 miles from zip code 27360. Due to high fuel prices, distances over 25 miles from 27360 are billed at $1.00/mile (one-way), so 75 miles away = $50.00 (75-25=50 billable miles). I prefer to stick within a 60-mile radius of Thomasville, NC, but exceptions can be made depending on the circumstances. Travel fees are billed per trip - not per client, so you and your friends can split the travel fee if you're within a few miles of each other.
